Overview

ADM is looking for a Senior-level Flavorist to focus on the Beverage and Sweet categories. The primary responsibility is to develop winning flavor solutions in close partnership with a key global enterprise account. This role involves working with a global team of Scientists and Flavorists on projects while maintaining tight collaboration with the customer.

The position also supports additional customers by driving sales through:

  • Creating compelling, innovative, and winning flavors
  • Demonstrating superior ingredient and technology knowledge
  • Mentoring future Flavorists through patient teaching and open information sharing

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Flavor Creation: More than 15 years of experience in the flavor industry, with a proven track record of expertise and sales in Sweet and Beverage categories. Citrus and emulsion experience is a plus.
  • Communication: Well-developed communication skills across all functions, both internally and externally. Must be able to present technical information to customers.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple customer and internal requests concurrently with speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Leadership: Foundational leadership skills that are expected to grow over time at ADM.

Description of Work Performed

  • Collaborate deeply with the focused account contacts while effectively communicating and working with internal departments.
  • Independently manage creative projects and drive outstanding sales performance in the Beverage and Sweet categories.
  • Develop creative and innovative flavors across all applications within the category.
  • Work with integrated ADM flavor and extract development to define a robust portfolio of flavoring ingredients useful to customers.
  • Build a strong network of relationships with customers.
  • Collaborate with the flavorist community to ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in the ADM Flavorist Academy, mentoring Trainees to develop creations for applications within the segment.
  • Work with Marketing to promote the category, message, and publicize competencies.
  • Work with Account Managers to identify opportunities for the Beverage and Sweet categories.
  • Participate in all high-potential Beverage and Sweet projects.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Proven track record of success in the Flavor & Fragrance Industry, notably in Beverage and Sweet categories. Must be capable of creating innovative flavors upon joining.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher (Chemistry or Food Science preferred).
  • At least 10 years working as a Flavor Chemist at the bench.
  • Must be a member in good standing in the Society of Flavor Chemists, if US-based.
  • Knowledge of all flavor raw materials, flavor chemistry, flavor creation, and composition.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and delivery technologies, most notably spray drying, Citrus, and emulsions.
  • Highly developed project management skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Range: $92,800.00 – $172,800.00 (varies based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience).
  • Incentives: Annual bonus and long-term incentive plan.
