Flavorist Job: Flavorist, Sweet & Beverage — Sensient Technologies
Sensient Technologies is seeking an experienced Flavorist specializing in Sweet & Beverage applications for a full-time, 100% onsite role in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The position is designed for an accomplished certified flavorist who wants significant creative autonomy, global customer exposure, and opportunities to develop into a technical or people-leadership role.
The Flavorist will be responsible for creating, matching, and developing innovative flavors that meet customer needs and Sensient’s commercial objectives. The role involves working closely with Application, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other technical teams to turn flavor concepts into successful customer solutions. The Flavorist will also provide technical expertise to both internal teams and customers, including participating in customer visits and traveling when needed to support global business opportunities.
A major component of the position is technical leadership and talent development. The successful candidate will contribute to Sensient’s Flavorist Training Program by teaching training modules and may eventually lead training initiatives regionally or globally. There is also potential to advance into a role managing a Flavor Creation team.
Additional responsibilities include participating in sensory evaluation panels, SFC meetings, and technical initiatives aimed at improving flavor quality, capabilities, and innovation. Sensient is looking for someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, collaborative abilities, technical expertise, and demonstrated leadership potential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Successful completion of the SFC certification exam or an equivalent internal certification.
- At least 7 years of experience as a certified flavorist.
Compensation and Benefits
The stated salary range is $160,000–$230,000 USD, with actual compensation determined by factors such as education, experience, specialized training, and market conditions. The role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and includes a comprehensive employee benefits package and professional development opportunities.
Work Arrangements and Restrictions
The position requires employees to work onsite five days per week at Sensient’s Hoffman Estates facility at 5115 Sedge Blvd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192. Sensient does not provide relocation assistance, so candidates must already live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
Sensient also does not offer employment visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
