Global Flavor Houses — Estimated Ranking

Global Flavor Houses — Estimated Ranking

About the ranking

The first 13–15 positions are relatively robust because company financial disclosures and scale are easier to triangulate. The #16–30 group is directionally reliable, but private ownership and differing definitions of “flavor sales” introduce uncertainty. From roughly #31 onward, the position assigned to each company may not be accurate and the actual ranking may be different. For instance, a company at #38 could reasonably be #32 or #44 under a different methodology.

There is also a fundamental distinction between full-service flavor houses and specialists. Edlong may only be #33 overall but would rank dramatically higher in dairy flavoring. Treatt and Citrus & Allied move higher if natural extract ingredients are weighted heavily. Fuchs and Wixon move higher if seasonings are included fully. Sensapure and Sovereign move higher if the universe is restricted to U.S. functional and beverage flavors.
