We are seeking a seasoned Senior Flavor Chemist to lead and execute flavor development projects from initial concept through to successful commercialization. In this key role, you will drive innovation, quality improvement, and cost optimization within our dynamic savory, beverage, and dairy portfolios. Key Responsibilities:

  • Flavor Creation & Development: Design and formulate innovative, market-leading flavors for food and beverage applications, including compounded liquids, spray-dried powders, emulsions, and extracts.
  • Project Leadership: Lead creative development projects and provide critical flavor chemistry support for application-focused projects, ensuring timelines and customer specifications are met.
  • Flavor Matching & Analysis: Utilize analytical data and sensory skills to accurately match target flavors from various sources, including competitor products.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Develop flavors that comply with all relevant guidelines, including specific formulations for alcoholic beverages adhering to TTB regulations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with R&D, Applications, Marketing, Sales, and Production teams to ensure flawless project execution from lab to plant.
  • Customer & Technical Support: Partner with Account Managers to provide expert technical support, including direct interaction with key customers to understand and deliver on their needs.
  • Team Mentorship: Provide guidance, leadership, and technical instruction to technicians and junior chemists to foster team growth and capability.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific field. An advanced degree (MS/PhD) is a significant advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive, hands-on experience developing flavors for the food and beverage industry.
  • Expert knowledge of aroma chemicals, natural extracts, essential oils, and flavor manufacturing processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of US and international flavor regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional sensory abilities: a refined sense of taste and smell, with the ability to identify and characterize flavor materials.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external clients.
  • High proficiency in organizational, computer, and technical writing skills (Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification from the Society of Flavor Chemists.

Compensation & Benefits:
We offer a competitive total compensation package reflective of your expertise. The targeted salary range for this position is $104,672 - $157,008. Final offers are based on a comprehensive assessment of factors including your geographic location, relevant education, specific skills, depth of experience, and other job-related qualifications.
