A burnt flavor essence for cigarettes and its application

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention belongs to the technical field of tobacco, and relates to a burnt flavor essence for cigarettes and its application.

Background Art

[0002] Burnt flavor note is a very important flavor note in tobacco. If the burnt flavor note in cigarettes is insufficient, it will simultaneously cause deficiencies in baked aroma, hay-like aroma, and other aromas in the cigarette, thereby leading to insufficient natural tobacco aroma of the whole cigarette, making the cigarette lack richness. Especially in full-flavored cigarettes, insufficient or impure burnt flavor components will lead to a decrease in cigarette strength, body, and fullness, failing to meet consumers' requirements for cigarette smoking quality.

Summary of the Invention

[0003] To overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings and deficiencies of the prior art, the object of the present invention is to provide a burnt flavor essence for cigarettes and its application. While having a distinct burnt flavor note, it also carries sour, milky, and other flavor notes. When applied to cigarettes, it allows consumers to clearly perceive a pure burnt flavor note, and to a certain extent increases the baked aroma note, as well as sweet, milky, and other flavor components, thereby increasing the natural tobacco aroma intensity of the cigarette, enabling the cigarette to be perceived as sufficiently full and bodied during smoking evaluation, and meeting consumer requirements for smoking quality.

[0004] To achieve the above object, the technical solution adopted by the present invention is:

[0005] In a first aspect, the present invention provides a burnt flavor essence for cigarettes, the raw materials for its preparation comprising rye extract, methyl cyclopentenolone, Maillard reaction product, malt extract, 2-acetylfuran, methyl maltol, and furaneol. Rye extract contains starch, fats, proteins, and high concentrations of fructo-oligosaccharides, and produces a rich burnt and baked aroma upon roasting; methyl cyclopentenolone (M.C.P) has a burnt sugar syrup, caramelized sweet, and roasted chestnut odor, and is one of the most commonly used raw materials for formulating caramelized sweet flavor; the Maillard reaction product is a mixture obtained by reacting various amino acids and sugars under certain temperature and pressure conditions; malt extract produces a rich burnt and baked aroma upon roasting; 2-acetylfuran has sweet, nutty, roasted, and smoky flavor notes and is a widely used raw material for formulating bread, molasses, baked goods, and nut flavors; methyl maltol has a special flavor of caramel cream candy, is a broad-spectrum flavor enhancer with effects of enhancing, fixing, and sweetening aroma; furaneol is a white to pale yellow crystalline or powdery solid with a strong burnt caramel flavor, characteristic notes of fruity, burnt, caramel, and pineapple-like aroma; the essence combines these 7 raw materials, placing them in the "Emperor" position to serve the dominant role of embodying the burnt flavor.

[0006] As a preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the essence comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 4-6 parts of rye extract, 0.2-0.3 parts of methyl cyclopentenolone, 8-12 parts of Maillard reaction product, 1.5-2.5 parts of malt extract, 0.15-0.25 parts of 2-acetylfuran, 1.44-1.56 parts of methyl maltol, and 0.15-0.25 parts of furaneol.

[0007] As a preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the raw materials for preparing the essence further comprise vanillin, perillartine, cocoa extract, and full-flavored tobacco extract. Vanillin, the largest variety in the flavor industry, is the main component of creamy vanilla flavors favored by the public, widely used as flavoring, taste correcting, or fixative agents in food, daily chemical, and tobacco industries, in products such as candies, cakes, biscuits, and bread; perillartine is a high-performance additive for cigarettes and food, which can enhance cigarette flavor, improve taste, and make the aftertaste mellow and comfortable; cocoa is one of the world's three major beverage plants and a main raw material for chocolate, used as an auxiliary in the essence to enhance baked aroma; full-flavored tobacco extract can enhance the tobacco base note, such as Henan tobacco, Hunan tobacco, Anhui tobacco, etc.; the essence uses these 4 raw materials as the "Minister" position, imparting milky aroma and assisting in embodying the burnt flavor note.

===== Page 4 =====

[0008] As a further preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the essence comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 3.8-4.2 parts of vanillin, 0.04-0.05 parts of perillartine, 0.5-0.6 parts of cocoa extract, and 0.5-0.7 parts of full-flavored tobacco extract.

[0009] As a further preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the full-flavored tobacco extract is Yuyan (Henan tobacco) extract. Henan Yuyan tobacco is a typical representative of full-flavored cigarettes, characterized by rich aroma, good satisfaction, full body, and richness; it is used in the essence to enhance the tobacco base note and also serves as an auxiliary raw material for burnt and baked aromas.

[0010] As a preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the raw materials for preparing the essence further comprise ethyl octanoate, hawthorn extract, and tamarind extract. Ethyl octanoate is used as a food additive, has an aroma similar to brandy and a sweet taste; hawthorn's main components are crataegic acid, tartaric acid, and flavonoids; its hot-process tincture can be used in tobacco flavors, while cold-process tincture is mostly used in food and beverage flavors; tamarind extract has a sour, sweet, and pleasant taste and is widely used in tobacco flavors and some food and beverages; the essence uses these 3 raw materials as the "Assistant" position, imparting sour aroma and playing a supporting role.

[0011] As a further preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the essence further comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1 part of ethyl octanoate, 3-5 parts of hawthorn extract, and 4-6 parts of tamarind extract.

[0012] As a preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the raw materials for preparing the essence further comprise coconut aldehyde and menthol. Coconut aldehyde is a colorless or pale yellow liquid with a coconut-type aroma, with an anise note; upon dilution, it exhibits apricot and jujube aromas; it is widely used in edible, tobacco, and feed flavors; menthol has a cooling minty aroma, is diffusive but not long-lasting, and in small amounts can reduce irritation and mask off-notes; the essence uses these 3 raw materials as the "Messenger" position, playing an overall coordinating role, making the entire essence completely integrated and consistent.

[0013] As a further preferred embodiment of the essence of the present invention, the essence further comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1 part of coconut aldehyde, and 0.3-0.5 parts of menthol.

[0014] In a second aspect, the present invention also provides the application of the essence in cigarettes.

[0015] As a preferred embodiment of the application of the present invention, the essence accounts for 0.03% - 0.05% of the weight of the cigarette tobacco leaves or cut tobacco.

[0016] Compared with the prior art, the present invention has the following advantages and beneficial effects: The burnt flavor essence for cigarettes of the present invention adopts the formulation structure of Emperor, Minister, Assistant, and Messenger. The raw materials in the "Emperor" position jointly play the dominant role of embodying the burnt flavor note. The raw materials in the "Minister" position assist in embodying the burnt flavor note. The raw materials in the "Assistant" position play a supporting role. The raw materials in the "Messenger" position play an overall coordinating role, making the entire essence completely integrated and consistent. Thus, while having a distinct burnt flavor note, the essence also carries sour, milky, and other flavor notes. When applied to cigarettes, it produces a pure burnt flavor note and increases baked, sweet, milky, and other flavor notes, thereby increasing the natural tobacco aroma intensity of the cigarette. It enables the cigarette to be perceived as sufficiently full and bodied during smoking evaluation, meeting consumer requirements for smoking quality. In cigarettes primarily of the fresh-flavored type, adding the essence of the present invention appropriately not only suitably increases the smoke concentration but also reduces green and harsh off-notes from the tobacco blend itself, thereby improving the overall aroma quality of the cigarette.
